Student led projects on sustainability on university campuses celebrated during the ENLIGHT Global Citizenship Award ceremony

By creating a stage to showcase student led initiatives promoting sustainability on university campuses ENLIGHT hope to inspire others to take similar action. Therefore ENLIGHT launched a global call for the presentation of such projects. These projects were presented in online sessions to a jury of students from the ENLIGHT Student Network and from ENLIGHT university Green Offices. The jury selected four projects to be presented with the ENLIGHT Global Citizenship 2023 for their great efforts. The award ceremony was held on October 12 in conjunction with the ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Award during the ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Conference in Bordeaux.

The awarded projects were

  • Glassary Initiative by students from the University of Galway, Ireland - Represented by Abbigail Fritz & Molly Hickey.
  • Concordia Precious Plastic Project (CP3) by students from Concordia University, Canada - Represented by Amy Train & Sara Ordonselli.
  • Waste for Taste by students from Uppsala University, Sweden - Clara Nicolai & Maria Louise Jensen.
  • Sustainability Summer Schools by students from Ghent University, Belgium - Represented by Emilia de Graeve & Karel Proot.
