Programme
Preliminary programme
The Office for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (OVPEDI) was established at University of Galway in 2016 with the appointment of the first Vice President for EDI in an Irish HEI.
Since its inception, the OVPEDI has established a well-embedded EDI infrastructure and governance structure to provide leadership, responsibility, accountability, and oversight of equality and human rights.
2026 marks 10 years of a dedicated EDI unit expanding from an initial focus on gender equality to 5 intersectional EDI Programmes of work. The EDI Team has expanded accordingly, enabling delivery of these programmes and action plans. The work is further supported by four Vice-Deans for EDI at College level who in turn shape and inform the EDI agenda.
The University of Galway will draw on their experience to structure and deliver an engaging and interactive EDI Staff week focused on embedding EDI in Higher Education Institutions.
A more detailed preliminary programme will be published at a later date.
Target group
The staff week is aimed at:
- Professional and support services staff with a leadership or practitioner remit for EDI; building inclusive cultures and embedding dignity and respect.
