ENLIGHT awarded Erasmus+ funding to advance the Joint European Degree Label
The ENLIGHT European University Alliance has been awarded funding under the Erasmus+ Partnerships for Excellence: European Degree Exploratory Action call for its project JEDLAmP – Joint European Degree Label Launching and Amplification Project.
Coordinated by Ghent University, with all ten ENLIGHT partner universities participating as full partners, the project will contribute to one of the European Commission's key higher education priorities: the implementation and wider adoption of the Joint European Degree Label (JEDL).
The Joint European Degree Label is designed to recognise high-quality joint programmes delivered by universities from different European countries, helping to create a more integrated, inclusive and internationally competitive European Higher Education Area.
Building institutional capacity for joint programmes
JEDLAmP will strengthen institutional capacity for developing, delivering and supporting transnational joint programmes both within and beyond the ENLIGHT Alliance. The project will expand ENLIGHT's joint educational offer while increasing the attractiveness, accessibility and inclusiveness of joint master's programmes.
A key feature of the project is the combination of established Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programmes with new joint master's programmes currently being developed across ENLIGHT. Together, these programmes will provide a unique testing ground for implementing the Joint European Degree Label in practice.
Throughout the project, partners will identify challenges and opportunities, develop practical guidance and supporting materials, and formulate policy recommendations that can support other higher education institutions across Europe.
Contributing to the future of European higher education
By participating in the European Commission's exploratory action, ENLIGHT will contribute directly to shaping one of the most significant developments in European higher education. The project supports efforts to reduce barriers to creating and delivering joint programmes while fostering innovative, high-quality and inclusive international education.
Beyond benefiting the Alliance itself, the project's outcomes are intended to support the broader European Education Area and European Higher Education Area by providing evidence, tools and recommendations that facilitate the wider adoption of the Joint European Degree Label.
JEDLAmP will help transform policy ambitions into practical solutions, strengthening European academic cooperation and creating new opportunities for students, academics and universities across Europe.
