Ghent University's Russia Platform is hosting an online Summer School on Russia in COVID times! The Summer School will take place from July 12 till July 16, 2021 in an online format. Students will participate in seven interactive classes, covering a wide range of topics addressed by leading experts to examine the impact of COVID-19 on Russia, whilst gaining a better understanding of Russian politics and society in general.

Frances Fahy (Geography in NUI Galway) is the lead social scientist on the new CAMPAIGNers (Citizens Acting on Mitigation Pathways through Active Implementation of a Goal-setting Network) project which is a three year European study which aims to develop a ground breaking new approach that enables citizens to gain real-life experiences with low-carbon behaviours in various domains (e.g. transportation, energy, IT, banking, insurance, food, clothing, etc.).

The International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences, also known as ISCOMS, is one of the world’s leading student congresses in (bio)medical sciences. ISCOMS is not just any regular congress however, it is a non-profit organisation made up of students that aims to promote student research and the international exchange of it. This year the 28th edition of the ISCOMS congress will take place digitally from the 8th until the 10th of June 2021.

Rapid advancements in data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) call for a new generation of clinicians and (clinical) scientists, who are able to develop and introduce new prediction models and treatment strategies in healthcare. Therefore, the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) will organize the new Summer School ‘Data Science and AI in Health’, 5-10 July, 2021, Groningen (The Netherlands). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the course will be offered online for the time being. 

The University of Groningen offers one scholarship (€ 150 participation fee) per university for applicants of the ENLIGHT universities. No participation costs will be charged for all first admitted participants of an ENLIGHT university.

ENLIGHT includes a Work Package aiming to understand how and to what extent the unfolding of the project will trigger a transformation in its direct stakeholders and also, in the medium run, in European Higher Education.

ENLIGHT has been selected for additional funding by the French Government’s “Investissements d'avenir” programme (PIA) in the framework of the 'European Universities' call for proposals. Funding of 865,185 € will be granted to the University of Bordeaux for a period of 36 months. This financial support from the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation through its Investment for the Future programme (PIA), operated by the National Research Agency (ANR), will help the implementation of ENLIGHT and further the internationalization of training and research at the University of Bordeaux.

To make student and staff mobility more inclusive and climate friendly are two overarching goals of ENLIGHT that are a subject of discussion in various of our activities. Especially in the Work Package Connect the issue is one of the main focus points.

On the 14th–15th of October 2021 a postgraduate conference will take place at the University of Tartu, Estonia on the following topic: Interactions between German studies and neighboring disciplines. The conference is part of a doctoral school funded by the DAAD and would like to evaluate and explore the challenges and opportunities of interdisciplinary work in German studies by looking at specific projects. (Post) PhD students in philology or in other humanities are invited, who engage in interdisciplinary interactions with German studies in their projects.
